Gonna.surf is now fully free

1 minute read. Last update: 3 May 2026.

A few months ago I started a new job. One of the conditions: no secondary business activity. That meant gonna.surf, as a commercial project, had to stop. What happened next was the easiest decision I've made in a while.

I opened everything up. All premium features are now free for everyone, no account needed. Sponsorships are closed too. Gonna.surf is no longer a business - it's just a project I care about.

Running a side-business has its own overhead that has little to do with the product itself: finding customers, doing marketing, handling the business admin. None of that is why I built gonna.surf. The features I worked on were always the ones I thought made the forecast better - that part never felt like work. The rest quietly did. That pressure is gone now, and the project feels lighter for it.

I want to thank the people who paid for premium. You didn't have to bet on a small indie forecast tool, and you did. It meant something. Same goes for everyone who sent a kind word or a piece of feedback over the past years - that kind of thing keeps a project alive longer than revenue does.

There's still a long list of things I want to build. Better forecast models, a smoother experience, a few ideas I've been quietly sitting on. No roadmap, no deadlines. Just good work, done when it's ready.
